I iron my doilies or table runners then spray with sta-flo starch mixed in a spray bottle 50% starch 50% water. I put a plastic tablecloth on my table to protect the table and cover it with an old bath towel and spray both sides of the doily or table runner with the starch move it to a dry towel and let it dry usually overnight then press again with a steam iron. This just makes your doily or table runner a little stiffer it is a personal choice how you want to starch your doily or table runne.
